This May my second translated short story called School of Nations was\u00a0published by the\u00a0IEMed<\/a>\u00a0and\u00a0Mediterranya blog<\/a>. You can read my short story here and\u00a0here if you are interested. Now I would like to write about the story behind\u00a0the story.<\/div>\n

In April I wrote a post for you about my first dystopic short story called\u00a0New World (you can read\u00a0a post here<\/a>). After this award ceremony I had a new idea about a\u00a0special post-apocalyptic future where people live in nuclear bunkers under the\u00a0ground. In this world the most important thing is to protect the national\u00a0treasure and the language, that’s why kids cannot speak and make friendships\u00a0with other nations. But one Hungarian boy falls in love in a Serbian girl.<\/div>\n

This plot was really good for the 6th Sea of Words International Competiton<\/a>\u00a0because the topic was the “intercultural dialogue”. I have so much\u00a0experience about that because\u00a0I have spent one summer in Canada and now I live\u00a0in Poland and I personally enjoy the multicultural differences and love to get\u00a0to know people with different backgrounds and cultures. Unfortunately, I have\u00a0experienced the bad side as well. I realized that extreme nationalism can be\u00a0really discriminating.<\/div>\n

I was really glad when I heard that my short story was among the 15\u00a0finalists in this international competition. I travelled to Barcelona for the\u00a0awarding ceremony and some writing seminars. I met some very interesting\u00a0writers from across Europe and the Mediterranean area.<\/div>\n
